About Yvonne Leigh
I am a highly experienced Counsellor, trained and skilled in most aspects of relationship and individual difficulties. In our sessions I aim to bring warmth and sensitivity offering a safe and confidential place for you to explore and understand difficult feelings and thoughts without being judgemental and in complete confidentiality.
No one type of therapy fits everyone and so at our first meeting we can explore your concerns and decide on a means to overcoming your problems, whether by Person Centred Therapy or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). By listening carefully and discussing the difficulties one can find a way forward that will help you to resolve your issues.
I adhere strictly to the Code of Ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I am a qualified Counsellor with the Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
I have been working in Practice as a Counsellor in NW London / Central London / Stamford Hill since 2000. Having trained in Person Centred Therapy, Psychoanalytic Therapy and CBT, I work in Private Practice seeing Clients both during the day and in the evening by arrangement.
From 1992 I provided support for Cancer Sufferers, their Partners and families and have provided Marriage Counselling services. I have also worked as a Counsellor and supervisor on a telephone Crisis Helpline for both adults and children.
In addition to my present Private Practice, I have worked with the Talking Matters Wellbeing Centre, a charitable organisation specialising in the prevention of Mental Health issues in Minority Ethnic Communities and Holocaust Survivors.
As a practitioner, I endeavor to constantly advance my counselling skills through continuing education in my field. This progression enables me to provide my clients with a combination of both the well tried techniques and the latest in contemporary research and thought. Further Information
